You have no experience with stone, but would like to learn the basics of this fascinating craft? Then this course is ideal for you!
In this beginner's course, you will acquire basic knowledge about stone as a material - taught in a practical and step-by-step manner. Depending on your preference, you will work with marble, limestone or possibly sandstone and learn how to use classic stone sculpting tools safely and effectively.
The focus is on working with chisels and mallets - so you develop an initial feel for the shape, resistance and possibilities of the stone. You will practise the basic techniques and hand movements on simple, compact figures, reliefs or ornaments. The course instructor will be on hand to offer advice and support.The correct use of the tools will be explained and demonstrated in a practical way. The air pressure tools will only be used towards the end of the course, if desired.
